
Intern Architect, Tracie Reed
Tracie is an architect intern at Green Design Studio. She is a LEED AP BD+C and holds a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and a Master of Studies Degree from the University of Cambridge (UK) in Interdisciplinary Design for the Built Environment (IDBE).
As a component of her thesis at the University of Massachusetts she authored and published a peer-reviewed article comparing LEED and BREEAM for Educational Institutions in the Journal of Green Building. This article helped earn Tracie the American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS) Research Award in 2010. She also received the Alpha Rho Chi Bronze Metal for Leadership, Service and Merit which is awarded to a graduating student who has shown an affinity for leadership, performed willing service for the school or department, and gives promise of real professional merit through his or her attitude and personality.
Tracie currently serves on the Maine USGBC Chapter’s Programming and Advocacy Committees and co-chairs the chapter’s Green Schools Committee. In 2011 she received the Maine Chapter of the US Green Building Council’s ‘Volunteer of the Year’ award for her service. Tracie has also been named a ‘Citizen Architect’ by the American Institute for Architects for her commitment to community service.
She resides in Portland with her cat, Peppercorn, and enjoys sailing, canning, ballroom dancing and running in her free time.
